Default New Clutch - Engine or Gearbox Out ??????

Hi folks

Bit of a dilemma..... my clutch is on its way out and I'm orting it myself after receiving some huge quotes around £600.00 fitted

I am leaning towards pulling the engine because the cam belt is about due and it will be easy with the engine out. Also O/S rocker gasket is leaking and needs a swap.

Just looking for experiences of others as a guide to the best option - engine or gearbox bearing in mind the other jobs.

Thanks for any help

Russ

engine out every time its just easier especially if you are working on the floor and you can be doing the other jobs while its out

whilst there are other jobs, then engine out maybe easier, the usual preferred way though is the gearbox. £600 fitted, is that including a new flywheel? If not I think scoobyclinic do an uprated clutch for 399 fitted.

Defo gearbox out, you can do the timming belt in SITU.

Less to take apart when dropping the gearbox. Just get it up as high as you can on stands.

Gearbox out easy to do ! me and my mate done it in 3 half hours ! blooby heavy box though but much easier then removing engine ! most places i phoned (scooby experts etc ) said box out and why the hell remove the engine to do a clutch ! fair enough i said, but its up to you as other people prefer taking out the engine . cambelt is easy to do in situ and so is rocker cover gaskets ! good luck
