Question

I've got the car[1]'s MOT due tomorrow. Since it had it's last MOT, I've removed the centre catalyst leaving the one on the DP in place. Would a 20mile drive at motorway speeds get the 1st cat hot enough to past the emissions?

Just wondering.....

I would have thought that should be ample, you might find that leaving it ticking over standing still gets it nice and warm, ther'd be no draught then.

Miles,
I got mine (MY97) MOT'd last month with just the d/p cat on and she flew through. AFAIK, the centre cat is just a cold cat for whilst the car warms up and the car has to be at operating temperature (oil at 80 degrees) before they can do the emissions tests.

See ya!
