I'm thinking of changing my scooby sport mid and back box to a Hks Hiper. Will I get any benefit out of it? So far my uk MY 00 has a link, APS filter, Hybrid VF22 and a scooby sport exhaust and down pipe. Future plans are to port the headers and get a front mount. Hence thinking about the HKS as it has lager diameter tubing.

cheers
Sam

Go for a new down-pipe. It will give you much better results than swaping the back box and the middle section.

Dukas,

Sammy already has a SS downpipe!

Sammy,

I would go for gasflowing your headers first, makes a big difference. Get an HKS Hiper only if you are going for a 3in D/P such as BPM. If you have a smaller D/P the improvement if any will be small.

Sorry David I disagree

I've got a standard S/S dp which is 3 inch all the way from the expanded neck down to the mid section connector where it tapers to 2 1/2 inch. I swapped my S/S centre and Milltek backbox for and HKS Hyper and noticed big changes, so much so that a re-map was needed

The overall mid range pick up was improved, and the car was far happier to spin up past 5.5k rpm. Only down side is that it's chuffing loud and in a UK car at a cruise around 3k rpm the droan seams to sit right in the middle of your neck still cruise at 3.5k and it's gone

Thumbs up

I changed mine last weekend, ss back and mid changed for the Hiper, kept the ss downpipe, I'm happy with it..mid range torque seems better pulls tighter, spins up to the rev limiter super fast

Between gear changes is superb, the turbo seems instant. Oh and the sound of its fantastic.

Hi Sam, you have the right idea there, the SS downpipe works very well indeed with the Hiper exhaust whether its the "standard" tapered end version ofr the full 3" version, I would suggest that you don't need to change the d-pipe from what you have, just add the Hiper. Having run with this combination for over two years, interspaced with trials using a twin dump downpipe, I would not change from it. Ported and flowed std headers will be a good benefit to go with it. All my "good" set ups have used this.

In suggesting Sam changes to a twin dump, David, does that mean you changed your mind on yours? Its fine but I definately found a difference in gas flow and boost control.
