Since my last 30k service - 2 months ago - I have been getting intermittent power loss when just tootling along in busy traffic - say I'm doing 40 to 45 mph in 5th I will experience a judder and significant power loss - then the car will pick up on slight press of the accelerator. Seems to be round about 2000 rpm. I could then back up down to say 1500 rpm and dont see the problem.
Its not that I;m going too slow for the gear - lets face it we all know what thas like - anyone any ideas - It doesnt feel like a missfire or loosing a cylinder.
I'm still under warranty - 10 months left.

It's probably a combination of emission control by the ECU, offering the engine a lean mixture at the loads you're talking about, and weak engine mounts. More modern cars have got this flaw, especially in heavy traffic and creeping along in traffic jams.
Does the ECU flash any trouble codes, as it could also be a lose wire/connection or something.

I havent checked for staus codes from the ECU yet - its off to a dealer on Saturday comming - they said they would "put it on the computer" and see if it reported any status codes.
I dont expect the MAF sensor to fail - the car is standard and has no mods and under warranty - so I expect they'll reset the ecu and tell me they've fixed it !
Time Will Tell - more on Saturday comming.
Thanks All.

Turns out the knock sensor was out by a degree and has been pointed as the likely culprit. It has been adjusted now and the engine certainly feels a lot better - smoother on acceleration.
Time will tell.
