Default Price vs. BHP increase?

Has anybody worked out what the cheapest mod to give that gives the biggest BHP increase?

Im looking for some way to increase BHP, without spending silly money.

Im currently decatted, thats about it, but id love to get over the 300 bhp mark, im running a 96 RA - any ideas.......Panel Filter? Remapped?

Remap is the way to go. Got almost 60bhp more from a decat centre and remap ! (now I just hope it doesn't blow up !).

You can't remap pre 99 ECUs; you need to go for an aftermarket ECU like Apexi power FC and a remap from someone like Andy F. Many have and I've yet to hear anyone dissapointed.

Whilst I understand this is a useful thing to know, does it not also come down to reliability / driveability etc and not just £/BHP? You might pay a modest amount for a good power increase but blow your engine up 2 months later - then the £/BHP will seem rather higher !
