Default the boost solanoid saga continues

Is the long number on the body of the Denso wastegate solanoid the actual part number does any one know ?.

Is there a different one that replaced the dodgy my97 ones that I can use .Repeated cleaning has not worked .

Finally how much do Subaru charge ??

Are you sure you need one of these ? What is the problem ? There are probably loads of people who have one knocking around after changing for a 3 port so try a wanted ad.

Basically the car cuts out momentarily on full throttle ,but only in the higher gears - like on a motoway slip road. It was overfilled with oil at its last service (before I bought it) and makes the distinctive 'Mooing 'sound at about 3000rpm,which i believe is a sign of this.I have cleaned the solanoid out with the connectors under the dash connected but it still continues . standard 97 wagon

Ken is right,

Most mappers replace the standard solenoid with a 3 port.

try contacting some of the mappers or tuning companies who may have one that missed its way to the bin.

Eg:
Bob Rawle
AndyF
Pavlo
Jolly green Monster
Pat
TSL
Power Engineering
Extreme
WRC technologies
RCM.

One of them will have an old one.

I was led to believe that the Mooing sound was infact a sign of a Faulty Oem Dump Valve !!!! Not holding Boost Pressure..

Get that swapped with a friends Etc to test.

Also you could fit a Dawes Type device, (Mechanical Manual Boost Controller) which would eliminate the Boost Solenoid as the pipes that are routed from it to the Engine Etc are just Joined together. The wastgate is then purely operated by the Dawes Controller.

I'll second that - I had that probem on my 97 STB.
Well known fault on 97/98 cars with plastic DV.

Thanks guys. I don't actually have any friends with a subaru but I'll follow up the dump valve .would the dump valve create the same symptom then of cutting out as described (. i went down the solanoid route as it was overfilled with oil)
