"Under the Town and Country Planning Regulations 1992, flags can only be flown without planning consent if they are on a vertical pole.
Those flown at an angle or out of windows are therefore against the law."

From: I have ad blocked my rep - so dont waste your time!
so an age old law thats never enforced??? maybe it was news in 92 but seems a bit desperate to go on about it now...slow news day?
(having said that....any law that arrests people draping flags from windows will at least tidy up the chav population)

Do you not also need planning consent to erect a flag pole?
It does make me cringe though when I see a row of grubby little council houses each trying to out do the next with larger and larger St George flags nailed limply to their tatty pebble dashed walls!

"And that's what councils will want people to do - to show solidarity - so let's ignore the law on this occasion and go with flying the flag."
Can we apply that to 'safety cameras' as well ?

And then found we had to submit another application for "permission to display an advertisment", just in case we decided to get a flag with the company name on - WTF?
John.
I fully support people being able to fly their flags from their house. It comes in very useful when looking to buy or rent a property. Are you gonna choose the property with flags everywhere or one where there's hardly any

Scientists have discovered that a vast amount of men in the UK have penises measuring 3 inches or less. To help solve this problem, the government has asked those with the condition to identify themselves by flying a white flag with a red cross from either their house, or car windows.
