Default Mr2 GT to WRX what have i done!

Can not believe I have converted, I have been a MR2 enthusiast for many years, owning 3 import turbo models (GT turbo rev1 2 and 3) this weekend I was out for another MR2 (last one was costing my a fortune and I could not justify fixing it anymore), anyway to cut a long story short, I saw this mean black 1994 WRX import sitting looking at me, took it for a spin and just had to get it. not as nice looking at the 2, but seems faster although my 2 was dyno at 240bhp the wrx just went like a bat out of hell, pinning me down!

I know nothing about these cars at all, I paid a bit more than I should I found out now £4500!!! for a wrx 1994, but it is perfect, AA guy checked it out, only has 60k comes with £1000 tracker and £500 alarm, and nothing needs doing (well as he stated its perfect, so here is my fingers crossed i dont have the same problems as last with the 2), comes with warranty (know that means nothing these days) the paint work is better on it than my girlfriends year old car. The guy who had it before me only used it on weekends, it not been touch or modified in anyway only maintain.

I am trying to learn as much about these cars as possible now so maybe asking a few stupid questions for a while on here.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce my self to the forum, as the mr2 forum guys and girls were the best bunch peeps I had ever met. Here hope you guys are the same!

PS any meets in the midlands s-o-t area happen on here?

welcome mate,
my last car was a mr2, best car i ever owned, i thought it was much faster than my wrx wagon. i think the wagons are 220bhp (due to smaller td4 turbos, than saloons), but i think the twos are only 200 bhp but lighter.
mind you both toped out at 111mph mind you you dont need to go any faster. but i'm sure me two had more pull, but maybe i just remember it wrong.

yes will post pics on a sunny day (lets hope this weekend is nice) is not the wagon is the 4 door one,

the mr2 import rev1/2 (1989/1993) are 220bhp as standard and the rev3+ is around 240bhp, buts is not hard to turn up the boost on the rev1/2 as it can take 15psi (1bar ish) without any problems making it around 130+bhp. problem with the mr2 is it runs out of power top end of the revs so the boost power drops (damm t26 turbo) so i think thanks why the wrx give a bit more of a kick. (rev3 had 20b turbos so did not stuffer from the same problem)

i am not sure if i should start playing with the wrx, i have read by changing the ECU on these to a Z3 (dont know if i have that right) will give a few more bhp

>>>>see what am i saying i have only had it five mins!!!!!

o and the tracker its self was around 500 but the guy is also renewing for the life time of the car for me (in my name), which is (and i checked) 395, which is not bad for as long as i have the car. i think they do it for 100 a year also if your not going to do that. so not quite a grand but not far off for the tracker. the alarm is toad cat 1, so insurance is happy.

PS tesco give me £50 worth of fuel with my insurance and they were far the best quote i had ever had, just £900 for a 24 year old guys! elaphant were the next best at £1400, most would not touch me, told me it was group 20. tesco took into account my last car group 17, the tracker and everything!!!
