Default Clutch size for 97P reg my98 uk wagon..?

Need new clutch to go in UK 2000 wagon.

Have 2 questions -

1) Car was registered 97 on P plate but the applied model code shows fourth character as 'E'. Does this mean it is MY98 for sure?

2) Will the clutch be 225mm or 230mm? I cant find any info on what years had what size

Thanks in advance.

The car will have a 225mm clutch, as all 93-00 classic uk and wrx's had this size clutch. Only the STI's and P1's have the larger 230mm clutch. hth

Is it right that you can fit a 230mm clutch rather than a 225? i take it the flywheel would need skimming, if so by how much?

The 225 and 230 mm flywheel are completely different designs, so you'll have to change the flywheel as well.

HM, We only keep 230 mm clutches - they fit straight onto a 225mm flywheel with no hassle. The flywheels are all the same.
