Hi.
I have a MY04 wrx. It had a service at 20500 miles and has now done 21300 miles, my question is this...
It 'had' an oil change at 20500 miles and on checking the car this evening (long run tomorrow) The oil is at minimum.. oil light not on.
The oil is thick and mucky too
Is this right?
Has the oil actually been changed?
Thanks
Claire

It's not too unusual for a Subaru to use a little oil. If it's on minimum, then approx. 1/2 litre should bring it up close to the 2nd hole in the dipstick. Oil will change colour with use - that's normal. Top it up then make a point of checking the level every week or two. Try to do the check with the car in the same place each time. Is this the first time you've checked the level since the service? It's amazing the number of threads we see on here saying how low the oil level is, then admit they haven't checked it for 6 months! A powerful car, driven hard, needs frequent checks - it doesn't take long. Top it up before your run tomorrow.

Beware of over filling..! Too much is almost as bad a being on the low side.
I keep mine between halfway and the top HOLE when cold. Note that you'll get a higher reading when the oil is hot(ish).
BTW I've just changed the oil in my 05 (19k) and in the last 6 months/5k since the last change it didn't need a top up, some don't some do. I do still check it quite regularly though. Lol if you read the owners manual (this applies to most makes BTW) it states that you should check the oil level every time you fill up with fuel..! In a scoob that's quite often..!
