Ok I can now see what STi Frenchie was meaning about good shredding!!!! And the drummer is a tad good too.

That I like, heard of them but never heard them before now, think I might have to do some more listening

DragonForce are *seriously* good musicians. I don't think I've ever heard anyone play that fast and sound *so* good...and they are from our shores so a big for them! ACE band.

BTW, if you haven't already listened to Cradle Of Filth's "Nymphetamine" on the same site then I thoroughly recommend you do so -- a wonderful introduction to one of "dark" metal's best ambassadors and one of my favourite bands.

What the hell are Roadrunner/David Johanssen playing at? The New York Dolls went to sleep a long time ago and even more so with the deaths of Johnny Thunders and Arthur Kane!! Johanssen is a failed actor (never mind his failed solo career -- although his self-titled album was good) so is the video on the site an attempt to resurrect the New York Dolls name? Oh dear how sad. It's even worse than Axl Rose trying to resurrect the Guns'N'Roses name, bring out "Chinese Democracy" and then pretend there's no cash-in.

I'm seriously disappointed in Johanssen after all he's said and done...he really must need the money.

Happens with the younger musicians too mate. Only 1 of the lovely (to look at) female trio will be carrying on as they are at the mo. On the US label not the UK one.

Dunno what you mean Simon, the trio you refer to haven't achieved *anywhere* near a level where they could be considered famous so there isn't much of a comparision if you ask me...I was talking musicians who had made an impact on the music scene, not wanabees.

Excellent taste!!! May I recommend Tool's 10,000 days, some Shadows Fall, Children of Bodom and Bullet for my Valentine?

Was a referance to cashing in on a dead horse (carrying on without 2 of the original members ) didn't say they were the f word.

Might be showing my youth here, but can't say I've ever heard of David Johanssen.

Now I'm seriously into my music but I don't like this kind of cockrock . schoolgirls intorduction to metal . They can certainly play though which is qute refreshing.

I think Slayer or Death would give them a run on the drumming stakes.

Dragonforce are ACE!!

I got into them when Zane Lowe of all people played them on his show. Best metal band I'd heard in ages...

There's a lot of good metal around at the moment but I'm back listening to Slayer again thanks to Metal Hammer!

woah... my other halfs mate at work is best mates with Shadows Fall... takes em out drinking when they come to Newcastle !!!! Also is aquainted with God Forbid.
have just been intorduced to Stone Sour too... (lead singer from Slipknot).. extremely varying music from them tho... some ballad type sounds but also some very screamy ones!

love Bullet for my Valentine also .

Middle daughter is into Tool along with some very obscure bands... if it wasn't for her, i wouldn't have a clue about Dragonforce or Avenged Sevenfold etc.

will certainly have a listen to some of the ones you've mentioned there tho hun !
ta xxx

Myspace.com is a good place to find unsigned bands producing good stuff.

just had a listen to some Tool.. and some Children of Bodom... 15 year old daugter has loads of tracks of them on her pc.
Tool sound pretty canny... the one she played me of the COB...very screamy I thought.. don't mind 'scream' to a certain extent but can't listen to it all the time.... I must be getting old.. well I am 37
