I need an estate car for work (and play), and the only thing that'll do what I want is a scooby wagon. So do I got UK or do I go grey? I suspect I'm better off going grey as I'll have to part ex, and my part ex is a FTO, any thoughts??

 

Check insurance 1st and also where in your area you can get
a grey serviced, as these are main factors when purchasing
a grey. Insurance on imports is usually 30% more than UK, so the running costs are considerably more. Performance wise there is not much in it. Prices are looking good for a UK car at the mo, so personaly I'd go for a UK. We have a 94WRX, but at the time we bought it(2yrs ago) prices of a UK scoob were out of our price range, so thats the only reason we did'nt get a UK spec scoob.

Well i never had an insurance prob. with the FTO (appart for my old insurer saying "A what?? Never heard of it, we don't cover em", and my local mechanic never had a prob with the FTO, but does a WRX require more specailist treatment?

 

well i've had both - I'd say the WRX was easier to insure than the FTO. I paid the same premium, but IMO the FTO isn't that quick, esp in tip guise.

As for imports being more expensive to insure than UK versions - well I hear it a lot, but my premimum was based on a modded UK turbo - which it in effect was. So yes the premimum was higher than a standard UK turbo but it was worth more, had more extra's and higher bhp, so of course it's going to cost more.

The FTo is more tricky to insure as it wasn't available in the UK until recently.

The Legacy GT-B I had was by far the best VFM. Performance and Practiaclity can't go wrong.
