Hi, My ABS light has come on, and when I turn a corner I can hear a humming noise. Not being that technical, is this ok to Drive? I haven't noticed any difference in stopping ability, its still good.
Its a September 2003 WRX Impreza.

A hum not a squeel from a brake wear indicator?

 

Defiantly a "hum" and not a "squel". Only when I turn a corner. And it started as soon as the ABS light came on, so I'm guessing its related.

 

I was only going to suggest your pads may be low. If you dont want to take it to a dealer yet check your brake fluid level, take the wheels off and make sure the pads have life left and that you havent got a stone lodged in there somehow.
Not convinced why the ABS light has come on though, sounds like it might be a trip to a dealer.....

Possible wheel bearing gone, crap they throw out then covers the ABS sensor pickup.

 

I had a look and I have noticed a nugh notch in my rear Left brake disc, do you think this may be making the noise? It is very rough and bumpy, as if a stone or something may have got trapped. All the calipers have a lot of pad left on them. Also checked the brake fluid, it is half empty. Does the ABS light come on if it needs filling up?
