Default Discs & Pads

Had a my first service yesterday (got the cambelt done just in case and the tensioner) All in cost me £600.

During the service I was told I needed new pads front and rear and new rear discs.

I had the cambelt done at a dealers in line with my warranty but wasn't willing to spend another £500 on brakes.

The standard parts alone where:

New Discs & Pads £180 + VAT
New Front Pads £82 + VAT

So £250 to fit - Don't think so!!

Sounds an awful lot for standard parts - Where could I get a better deal?
Is it worth upgrading, if so - What to?

Don't want to spend more than £300.

Cheers

Try www.camskill.co.uk. Rear discs and uprated pads cost me £110 delivered.

I have no idea how you manage to wear things out so fast. My MY02 wagon PPP is still on the original pads and discs (21,000 miles) AND is still on the OEM tyres first installed at the factory

First service in my new ownership - Car is MY00 'X' reg with 27k

I've only had the car for a few months!!

I won't be doing any track days and want braking power from any temp.

Is it worth getting OEM or some uprated discs?

What about fronts? - Might need to replace them as well..

Any particular brands to look out for (Fronts & Rears) ?

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, cut out the dealer and the labour charge savings nearly pay for the parts . Not sure what car you have, but the pads and discs are p1ss easy on an STI. Your looking at an hour each end (if you take your time).
