Changing oil in Rear Diff
Hello. I want to change the oil in my Impreza rear diff. Does anyone know the proceedure, and what oil is recommended please?

From: Stirlingshire; Wrx type RA STi version 2 V-Limited; #097/555
Pretty easy this one. On the rear of the diff is two drain plugs with square indents (use a 1/2'' drive ratchet).
Remove the top one first to let air in.
Remove bottom one and let it drain.
Replace bottom drain plug.
Fill with 0.8 Litres of gear oil (75W-90 driveline or similar for viscous LSD, for plated LSD's a specific oil is needed (type R/Ra)).
Replace top plug.
Done.
It's very fiddly getting the oil in due to the space, a seringe is usefull.

No, that won't make any difference. It's not a 'live axle'. The diff is fixed to the underside of the car via rubber bushes, with the drive shafts articulating with the wheel movement.

It's a proper car with a sensible design.
