Hi there
Just got a P1 backbox fitted on my MY97 Turbo. Does anyone know if this is regarded as a mod and needs to be reported to insurance company?
Cheers

Hi,

Think so.... I changed my exhaust from standard twin pipe effort
to a ScoobySport backbox and had to give insurers another £20, if I remember correctly. Best to be on the safe side. Fitted a non standard centre the other week, must tell em about that too...
supposedly you're meant to inform them of anything non standard you do to the car..even brake pads etc..

Matt.

Alasdair,
This is exactly what I'm planning to do this weekend (got the P1 back box already, just need to fit it).

Did you have to replace the original rubber gasket or bolts?

I'm not expecting any performance increase but what does it sound like? is it a vast improvement over the original?

Hi guys,

Think the 'P1 backbox' is very similar to the scoobysport one.
May even be made by Hayward + Scott too...dunno...
but anyway you should be able to use original bolts and gasket
(sort of a metallic).

Talking

Definitely a deeper noise, more throaty but not too loud. Been told as it carbons up the burble will start to develop. Can't wait.
Suppose I'd better tell insurance company. Wonder if they'll try to sting me. Cheers Alasdair

Thanks Matt

It even seems like its job I might be able to tackle myself! Shock horror!

Mind you, I'm off to Tyres Northampton either Thursday or Friday to get some green stuff rear brake pads fitting and if they've got the car off the ground anyways...me lazy!....how dare you!
