Default why a rebuilt gearbox ?

maybe looking at a uk turbo, gearbox has been rebuilt, just wondering if this rises suspicion, its got 120k on clock, would it point to misuse, full loading off the lights, hard 1st to 2nd,3rd crunching, or is it normal for the boxes to need rebuilding at this mileage ?

any thoughts.......

cheers.

If it were a MY99 UK turbo, then it probably suffered (as mine did) from 5th dropping out of selection on motorways. This might be a ''rebuilt box''; it is a simple fix in actual fact.

Ask what was replaced!
If third was replaced it could be because it was thrashed with a modified engine or the oil not changed or....

If it works well now, then be happy!

I still think if the owner has proof of the reason for the work and the car drives great, no problem?

Mine was rebuilt after 26,000 miles
Wasn't really abused, infact the wine started on the drive home from the shops with wife and kids in the car.
I put it down to a bearing fault from new as the case hardening was shot on 2 of the tapper bearings.
