Wire Loom compatibility

I have a My97 WRX and I want to swap an STI engine of the similar year (STI3 - GC8D4ED). I would obviously need to change my wrx ecu with the one that comes with the engine, but would the wire harness be the same for both?

Harness should be the same.
even the ECU will plug straight in

Anyone else to confirm this? What about an STI version 4 engine?

By the way my current ECu has 3 connectors (26/16/22 pin)....anyone owning a sti ver3 or sti ver4 can please confirm that they have the same number of connectors and pins. A photo would be great, so I caheck out the color of the wiring and position.
