Lots of talk about the noise with a PPP fitted. Is it any different from standard car with WR Backbox (talking MY01 here)?

There will be a slight increase in noise due to the de-cat centre fitted as part of the PPP.

LoFi

I had the WR backbox on my MY01 before I had the PPP fitted.

I personally prefer the looks and sound of the PPP back box.
If anything, I found the WR backbox slightly louder.

I find the PPP backbox is a perfect combination in being fairly quiet on the motorway and sounding great when 'giving it some'

Er, I've heard both but I like the sound of the WR box better- JMHO.

I can't say that one is louder than the other because the PPP on the MY00 sounds louder than the MY01's! I haven't heard the WR on a MY00, only on a WRX so I can't give you a comparison there only on quality.

Just my 10p

Another point is you can ONLY get the round PPP back box with a PPP done or if can get one second hand. So your stuck with the Oval WR one as the only choice!!

I have the WR backbox, which I love. With all the PPP owners talking about the noise just wondered if I had similar lovely sound without the increase in power (which I'd like). The WR box sounds nice and deep, not too loud or intrusive but very lovely when manuvering in multi-stories. Silly question I know but the tailpipe gets very hot - is this normal.

Just a guess but it could be the 500 deg C exhaust gas heating it up!

I didn't notice much of a difference when moving from the WR backbox to PPP one. If anything, then its slightly louder, but thats probably because of the de-cat centre. Either way, the end result sounds the same to me.
