Blew my engine up before Xmas and have nearly run-in the re-build. Still running on 15w/40 semi but will be going to fully synth in about 500miles.
.....Ok, so that's the background covered. What I want to know is what oil pressures you guys are seeing (assuming you've got a gauge) so that I can get an idea of where my engine's at.

Typically I'm seeing...

Idle (Cold) : 1-3 bar
Idle (Hot) : 1 bar
High Speed / Load : 6-7 bar

on fully synth 15w/40 Motul 300v I used to see 2.5-3 BAR hot idle minimum !
(900rpm.. )

Higher rpm looks about right.

kak! - I knew the hot idle looked a bit low. Better check oil level....

 

Yes, I agree. The hot idle pressure is low. I would also say that the cold idle is far to low as well.

In mine (running 10w-60 castrol Rs), at start up the pressure is between 5 and 6 Bar. Fully warmed up, idle is ~3 Bar.

 

Im using silkolene 10/50 Full Syn

Cold Start at 6BAR
High Speed Load 6BAR
Idle Warmed up 3Bar

 

Oil level was a little low, as to be expected, and now that I've topped up I'm only seeing a marginal increase in hot idle pressure. cold idle and high speed/load is ok. With no leaks in the system I'm now starting to think if it might be the pump.
Next oil change to fully-synth is around now anyway so I might tackle both jobs in one go.
