If this is for the classic then I think NS04 bought one recently so you could try and PM him, if its for newage then they aren't out yet, I think.

No, I recently bought and fitted a Ninja Sports Cat though - let you know tomorrow how it goes, as I am in Powerstation @ 11am for a Tek3.

Quality kit for £299.

That is cheap, my de-cat downpipe wasn't much less than that

Yes, that is a good price.
I have been quoted £500 for a H&S unit
£400 for aScoobysport unit

Trouble with all of them is they all go from 3 to 2.5 inch pipe.
With my engine running at 407 bhp I need a 3'' right through.

Thanks for the info.

Being a bit of a thicko here maybe, but a lot of the downpipes seem to do this and maybe it is to stop the CAT being pushed out by the exhaust gases? If it was a straight through 3" maybe it could move it too easily?

please do mate, i have bought the same and am off to powerstation sometime as well, as per gb. from looks alone the ninja sports cat does look quality, decent steel & welds. can't believe how much cheaper it is than others (although does state limited introductory offer). proof is in the running though! good luck!

3'' to 2.5'' is about right for 300 to 350 bhp. It also bolts up to the stock middle pipe which is 2.5.
I have a 3'' all through so need a DP with a 3'' outpit flange.
H&S will make me a special to this spec.

I have a 'sport' cat @ 3'' all through on the car now, but would like the benefits of a 100 cell modern design.

graham....i can see your need to try and be eco friendly...but as yours is first and foremost a competion car,i cant seem to see why you want a cat in the first place, the car is driven from event to home, but its main objective is to be as competative up the hills as is possible....so for the slim chance of being caught with a decat system, wouldnt it be prudent for maximum power run a full decat system??...or have i missed something along the way in your rebuild threads that dictates a sports cat downpipe is needed?

No, your thoughts ar smack-on.

The car is a hill climber and should really be trailered. With the decat on it deliveres the good, but my wife and 20 year old daughter arn't so impressed.
They are not tree-huggers, but there is some lind of responsibility.

The H&S ad claims thet the 100 cell cat will loose about 2 bhp over the decat. so no loss there, and the turbo side 'mouth' is a modern wide open design, my current on is a 2 tube.
I'm not at all convinced the mouth design has much bearing anymore, the newish Prodrive PPP DP was a twin pipe!

I just fancy having the latest bit of kit on the car, but should be saving the $$$ for the Zen box. (I find saving boring....)

Not a very convincing argument is it?

Graham, Powerstation do a Milltek 100cell sports CAT in 3" for the Centre section. I also has a decent amount of silencer so the noise levels are kept low. Give Rich a call

Thanks Ian, it is a superb piece of kit too, but they only do one for the New Age according to Mr Milltek himself at the Autosport Show.
He would actually make me one for the classic, but i have AndyF coming to map on 21 March, so not enough time.

Graham, have you considered going the route I'm trying? Buy a 3 inch bore 200 cell high flow cat for 82 quid (inc vat and delivery) and (using one of your favorite devices here) weld it into the centre section of your exisiting exhaust?

See this thread for details

does it get hot enough in the centre section Tim?
When the dreaded MOT comes around I find the cat in the centre isnt enough, still needs the downpipe cat to go through...

Penuts, I've only got a centre and it's fine come mot time.

Graham, I've got the Power engineering T75 centre cat, which the say is rated to 400bhp and I think the dia only drops slightly at the joints as it can mate to either 3" or standard pipework. If it does reduce a little perhaps it could be "relieved" a little. Mine's now connected to a H&S wide downpipe 3" all the way (looked huge wraping it especially as beer can was a very loose fit!), all I need is a 3" pipe backbox at a reasonable price.

Steve

p.s Will come and see you again at Barbon if you're there.

I put some pics and full report in the group buy section, but it made 230bhp before the remap and 272bhp after with the following:

Ninja Sports Cat downpipe
JR Panel Filter
Magnex centre resonated de-cat and backbox.

Pleased with that, but I'm not that into figures as such - not only is it noticeably quicker but it drives a lot better too, smoother and more flexible.

The downpipe and JR filter added 15bhp, as I had a printout showing 215bhp when I bought the car with Magnex cat-back.

Thanks to all who have commented.
Tim:
Yes, thought about that ages ago by using a cat from Demon Tweeks, but thier largest is only rated at '350 bhp' iirc. hat is a 200 cell too, and the 100 is so much better in terms of flow restriction.
Also, welding it in accuratly enough could be an issue (for me).

Steve: Be good to see you again! Just sent off the entry for Barbon and Harewood weekend. Barbon is just so good.

StiX: If only it was 3'' right through...I need 3'' for this engine and the 2.33/2.5 I hope will be in the car for 2007.

Graham.
Have a look at this website, they do stuff for the classic. On my bugeye I have a 3" bore exhaust from turbo back. Including a 3" bore hi-flow cat, Their main distributor in the UK is G-Force-Motorsport in Aylesbury. Hope this might be of help Steve

why not just cost the decat as compared to the highflow cat and then work out !!! if its only for MOT's its cheaper and better to change a decat for the MOT than buy a good quality highflow downpipe
