Question Australia - Tourist Visa

Do I need a tourist visa to go to Oz on holiday for two weeks?

There are lots of websites offering visas if I do a Google search - none of which seem to be from the Australian Government.

Oh, and it reminds me of a great Peter Ustinov story. On arrival he was asked if he had had a criminal record. His reply was,"I am sorry my dear chap, I didn't realise you still needed one!"

He was arrested, deported and banned for ten years. No sense of humour these whingeing 'roos!

You did about 4 years ago - you can get them electronically

Yes you do, but if you have a british passport you can get an e-visa called an electronic travel authority (RTA). You can buy these online from the aussie government website, or alternatively the travel agent or airline you booked your tickets with should be able to sort it out for free.

I rang up BA after booking my flights online and they booked the ETA over the phone.

Yes. I booked my flights via Trailfinders and they sorted out the electronic visa for me.

One of the google ads below takes you to a site that processes the application for $7 less than the official site.

But as $7 is about £3 I'd go for the official site - it's a long way to go to find out you've been scammed

Yeah I booked my flights online with BA, but rang them up afterwards and they booked the ETA for me free over the phone.

Don't pay for it unless you really have to, the airline should be able to organise it for you for free unless they're really pikey.
