i have a wrx import 95 my car was running funny was boosting ok in first and second then cutting out in third then boost stays at 8psi for ages recently tho it runs fine in all gears boosting at up to 20 psi in 3rd and 4th then when u hit 5th the boost climbs then falls down to 8psi and stays that way in all gears then if u drive it gently for a while using no boost after a while boost comes back
it is boosting better in 1st 2nd 3rd 4th due to the boost solenoid being cleaned garage done that they say problem is the solenoid but i think i can hear it pinking in 5th and that is causing it
what is your verdict my i bought car about 6mouths ago the engine in the car was rebuild by api in 2003 what is ur verdict on problem would be much appreciated as it is driving me crazy
on garage said they thought it was high compression and that i need low compression pistons i didnt agree one says solenoid and subaru couldnt find anything look forward to hearing from u

the car is trying to protect itself , you must be triggering knock sensor (bad coils can do this) do you use a fuel cut defender or non standard ecu
