Default Can't find second gear!

Since i got my car, uk turbo 2000 '94, it has always been a little stiff to get into first but never really botherd me - i thought it was just a typical impreza gearbox!

A few days ago, braking up to a roundabout i couldn't get into second gear, it's been like this since.

This happened a few weeks ago but only lasted a few minutes then was back to normal.

Has anyone got any ideas what this may be?

Thanks,
Mark.

Could be a bent selector fork or similar damage as you force the gearlever to select a gear.
Is the rest of the box ok?

If so and everything is silent in operation you will need expert help.
On tuesday try David at www.apiengines.com

If you had bent a selector fork you would probably not be able to select a pair of gears 1-2 uses one fork 3-4 another and 5-R another.

Sounds to me like a syncro issue, the teeth have probably been damaged on one side of the syncro and jammed the outer ring.

The rest of the box is good, apart from first gear which feels a little 'notchy' to get into.

There haven't been any crunches or noises, it just physically wont go into second gear, tried engine on, off, clutch up, down etc.

If it was the selector fork, how easy are these to replace?

Thanks,
Mark.
