What are they like in terms of fuel ??

I've got the manual & with a fair bit of motorway driving have averaged just over 30mpg over 12,000 miles. Some say that if you do long journeys the auto is actually slightly more economical than the manual due to the higher top gear. Around town or pressing on I get about 25-28.

Subaru have dropped the 2.5 for 2005/06.

My 04 2.5 Auto Tourer was averaging 27ish to the gallon overall, would get up into mid 30's on a trip.
