Default Help Think I may a serious problem, horible sound at 4.5K

While going near the redline the other night, the CEL light came on with the Apexi PFC, after that there is a sort of ratley sound at around 4.5K, apart from that the car runs fine, could not see anything in the oil from the dipstick, and the header tank seems fine also, Any ideas as I'm fearing the worst right now.

CEL sounds like you're knock warning. Have you a commander for it to see what it's doing or a knocklink?

If it doesnt make the sound under throttle but when you lift off at a reasonably gentle rpm then it might well be one of your big end bearings that have slightly gone. It would be best to get this seen to ASAP if it is the case. If you keep driving the car the repair bill will only be more expensive.
If it is the Big ends whoever re builds the car make sure they stick one of Roger Clarks Motorsports Oil pumps On.
The check engine light could well have been your Knock Sensor picking up something

So does that mean that it wont be too expensive if its been diagnosed early without further driving. Anyone got a rough idea of the cost of this work?

I tried to call API today, but no answer, ill phone them on monday

No, I doubt it will alter the bill, but you don't want to be driving a car with knackered big ends, imagine the mess if it throws a rod or piston, new engine!

I think you'll be looking at least £1k

Sorry mate!, I've already posted elsewhere our hours as someone else was trying to reach me. We close at 12.15 ish .

The CEL is used on the Apexi as a knock detector and you've either had some pinking at the higher level and / or broken a big end. Tough Luck if you have.

Best not to run it too much until we've spoken and I can get a better feel fo your problem. It is possible that it's just a heatshield rattling but don't get your hopes up too high. When a big end fails and makes a noise it is too late and the damage is done.

With an oil pump working at 9 gallons a minute rate, your one gallon[ish ] of oil has already been round the engine at least 9 times, carrying all the debris from the damage with it.

Try not to worry too much until we've spoken.

It is possible - of course. Lets all hope so. However I suggest that you don't run it until professional opinion is available.
