Default advice on turbos for a 93 wrx

At the moment I've got a standard TD05 fitted to my car. I've got a load of other mods done too but thinking about changing the turbo for something else

What options do I have ?

I've seen a few Front Entry turbos. What do I need to do to fit these ? I've searched but nothing constructive to help.

Can I get say my TD05 ported to a 16 or 20g but still keep the 90 degree entry ?

cheers

You can fit a td05/06-20g by using a 90degree samco bend on the front. Most people would say fit and 18g rather than the 20g with wrx heads as the 20g is better suited to the higher revs of the sti heads.

Your current turbo is a 16g, good for upto 350bhp.

As powercrazed said. TD05/06 18G would be your best bet for an upgrade, no need to raise or change the inlet manifold, just use a 90deg samco.

You can get your turbo converted to an 18g, but your just as well to buy an 18g and sell yours.
Pretty sure you wont be able to keep your 90deg bend as a new housing is used, but a 90deg samco will be cheap enough.

I personally wouldn't change to a 20G without strenghening the internals of the engine. I also have a 93 WRX and have a lot of mods waiting to fit. I'd be scared it went into meltdown with a turbo that big on standard internals on a car of its age.

This is based on my own personal paranoia as opposed to a great deal of technical knowledge though
