Default Nintendo DS - Region specific?

Didn't think the DS as a Christmas pressie would be a problem but I'm struggling to find one of the Pink one's with Nintendogs. Now thinking about importing one, perhaps a US version. Are these things and their games region specific - I did notice one on ebay which said NTSC (can't think why though...)

Wouldn't care but we searched for PSP last week and eventually bagged one of the last available without having to resort to one of Sony's 'special' packs.

I though the DS would be a breeze after the PSP hunt.....

Thanks

I've had a hunt on the internet and also at 3 game stores locally, and all are out of ds/nintendogs combo's
Kids are not going to be very happy, so ended up getting 2 silver ones instead. Had to buy the games seperatley, but bought mario kart for myself at the same time
I couldn't believe they've sold out everywhere! Nintendo, popular!
Cant wait to try the wi-fi capability on the home network
chris.

(maybe I should've bought one for myself too )

I've ended up ordering one of the Pink Nintendog DS's from Woolworths more in hope than expectation.......

They do say they are expecting more stock in a the end of the month.

Fingers crossed...Can't seem to find a PSP now either

The manaufacturers of these things must be losing a huge amount of potential sales

Try www.neodiscs.com for a PSP. They were gazumped recently on an order and the boss has apparently found another stock in Japan and is trying very hard to fulfil orders. I'd email them directly. Keep an eye on www.PSP-deals.co.uk as well.
