test drive this morning
hello all, had a test drive in a 98 sti v5 this morning, it was dissapointing as it was not as fast as my wrx
on acceleration?
plus on tickover it was a bit erratic on idle, is this something to worry about as i thought sti`s were sposed to be fast off the mark!
it had a major service in may btw
regards
sean.

What wrx do you have, is it standard etc?
If all standard, and running optimax, then the STi should have the better of all wrx's, classic and new-age imho!

i was thinking maybe the maf was dodgy?
i asked the guy if it was run on optimax all the time he said yes, the fuel gauge was nearly on emty, when i asked for test drive he said !its ok i got some fuel in a big can! maybe he never had optimax in this? did not ask.
coz it`s an import i said should be run with millers or something but he said no coz its been remapped for uk fuel.
Optimax does degrade in a very short time. If the car has been sitting for a while (couple of weeks even), then the fuel could have lost it's RON. Storing Optimax in a petrol can for some time is going to have the same problem.
A faulty MAF may be the cause, and not helped by the fuel.
- I should read the whole thread before rushing to make replies!
I would be interested in the remap for UK fuel too. Who did it etc.
