Default Driveshafts the same classic vs new age?

As above, are the driveshafts the same size and lenght etc, i.e. will the driveshafts from a STI 6/7/8 fit my MY98 classic?

Newage wagons may have the same shafts as classic cars?
They share the same track and the front wishbones on classic STis fit newage wagons.

Front shafts as comlete units. ie outer CV, shaft, and inner CV are same length and fitment.

Rear R-160 shafts are likewise, and will swap with classic..

R-180's are different, due to larger diff, and larger hubs.

Is it possible to use STI V7/8 reardriveshafts in a classic with the R180 diff?
I think about the length of the shafts NOT the fitting with the outer hubs and brakes, this might be done...

Only need to know if there is a difference in length between STI V5/6 shafts with R160 diff and the newage STI V7/8 driveshafts and R180 reardiff.
Has anybody done this before?
Thanks for your help!

They are different lengths.

V7/8 Sti shafts are longer than STi V5/6

So I would need shafts from a STI Type R or equal car that has got the R180 diff with classic driveshafts, right?!

If its any help, a complete newage R180 rear end including hubs, bolts straight into a classic car with no issues.

Dont know if that makes the shafts the same length or not.
