Default ecu reset trouble

hi all,

after replacing the maf i reset the ecu, when the cel started to flash (which happened after a couple of seconds of driving instead of the quoted minute) to indicate there where no faults and the reset is complete, i stopped, turned the engine/ignition off and disconected both wires.

but now the cel is constantly flashing (on off on off - the no fault pattern) when the ignition is turned on including if i'm driving. i tried reseting it again, but exactly the same. so i pulled the jack plug off the maf to bring up a fault code (which it did) thinking it might cure the flashing once i reconnected the jack plug and cleared the code - still flashing. so i disconcted the battery for approx 2 hours but that didn't work either.

any ideas???
