Default is it going to stop?

ok here goes,
yesterday radiator went and sprayed all over engine including the air filter(mushroom type)
dried that out after taking it off yesterday,

new radiator came today and fitted it no probs at all and filled with coolant.

went to start the car and it was spinning over with no resistance quite fast,
had a look around to see if i knocked something off while removing and replacing rad but no everything as it should be.
thought i`d try it again and it fired up but ran really badly so thought the maf could be contaminated so did the test whereby removing the plug to the maf and the engine still running (badly), replaced the plug and the engine cut out?
what does this mean?
connected the fault wires and it showing the fault code for the maf
but it was fine till rad went so can i try and clean maf or is it wet and giving bad reading?

any help pleeeeeease
thankyou
sean.

MAF is showing up faulty because you disconnected it with the engine running (or ignition on) Reset ECU and try again. MAF sensor can be cleaned by removing the sensor from its housing and gently dunking the sensor part in a cup of brake cleaner and slowly swish around for 5-10 mins (use brake cleaner not carb cleaner as this melts plastic) then allow to dry & refit. It very much sounds like you have headgasket problems, did the engine overheat when the rad went?? If it is headgaskets it will chuck out all the water when you turn over the engine with the rad cap off. Good luck.
