Default Alternative to Optimax - Tesco SUL and a booster?

Haven't used my car much recently but when filling it up during the fuel problems I couldn't get Optimax so settled on a full tank of Tesco SUL and a bottle of booster (think it was millers) which said it added an extra 2-3 RON to the fuel.

Now if the Tesco SUL is 97 adding the booster should make it 99?

I can now get Optimax locally but its still £1 a litre. Haven't worked it out properly but I'm thinking it might be cheaper to fill it up with Tesco SUL and add the booster rather than fill it up with Optimax.

I filled up with the Tesco 99 stuff the other day. It was a lot cheaper than the closest Shell. Only done about 60 miles with it in, so can't properly comment on the econemy, but it seems to be heading in the right direction...

To answer your question: 97 octane fuel plus a bottle of booster will take it up to 99 - 100 octane which is equivalant or greater then optimax and more then adequate. HTH
