rock hits me from lorry advice?
hi all,
This morning coming to work i was just about to overtake a gravel lorry when a rock the size of birmingham bounces from the back heading straight for my head, swerved slightly to avoid but it crashes into the driver front window pillar..
its scratched mark and possibly dented the pillar (not had time to check properly)
What can I do about getting the company to pay for this? I've got the numberplate and the company name.
Advice?

Could try ringing them and see what they say, might be able to claim its an unsafe load, but I'm pretty sure only the Police and laterly VOSA can fine them for unsafe load. Worth a shot though !
Had simlair two days after picking up my MY05, luckily it hit the windows screen but it still has left a chip on the screen. Thought I has been shot !

thats a horrid thing to happen. i suggest phoning the company up telling them what has happened. give times, details of load if possible and they usually oblige as it's a serious danger with regard to health and safety if rubbish or anything comes off the back of a lorrys' skip while driving on the public highway
I had this happen to me in my saab, a local lorry dropped a cobblestone off the back!! the fist sized star in the winscreen was scary..
i phoned the company involved as i was driving h/free of course, as the driver did not want to stop...
they were all arsey, until i mentioned that why was he driving with a full load, and no cover on.... (it was coiled up at the back)
they fitted a new w/screen next day foc
