Question B.O.V. for new age

Hi Folks, firstly i apologise if this question has already been asked before but it is an area i`m in the dark about, so hoping someone could shed some light for me,

To anyone who has fitted a bov to a new age wrx/sti, is there actually any benefit acheived from doing so or is it just a cosmetic type modification, are they easily fitted etc and any recommendations of which would suit an 04 sti.

Many Thanks in advance for any help

Thumbs down

I assume we are talking a VTA dumpvalve here?

Your car is already fitted with the BEST dumpvalve it can have, and it's a recirculating type. No gains are to be made in changing it unless you are running 400+bhp.

In fact using a VTA d/v can cause serious probs with the engine, and lead to premature failure.

Don't you think that if Subaru UK and Prodrive found ANY benefits with a VTA d/v they'd be fitting them?

my wrx had a forge vta when i bought the car,all it did was make my exhaust pop and bang on over-run. changed it for a standard one, no differance in performance but i no longer frighten pedestrians when i exit tunnels anymore DOH!

Thanks for that Alcazar, you have confirmed what i had originaly thought, i knew it had the recirculator type and i had beleived it to be sufficient, but i have recently seen and heard cars like mine with them fitted so just wanted to know a little more.

Thanks Again
