Should I be able to hear the turbo on a standard My99 ??

It seems rather loud ?

Would subaru charge a lot to check it out ??

I can hear mine quite clearly from 2K rpm, on a MY98. My mate's MY00 you don't hear it till about 3k rpm. By hearing, i'm referring to a whistle noise.

I can hear mine clearly on my MY99 (I like it). Just the expected whoosh of air being displaced at high velocity. It's louder if you get the downpipe decatted apparently.

If you get a whistling sound or some kind of strange harmonic I guess this could point to a split hose, by all accounts the std turbo to intercooler hose is quite fragile. Does the car's performance seem ok?

see I dont know, I have only had the car 2 weeks and have nothing to compare it to !!
