Default Exhaust heat shield info

My car had its MOT on monday and passed ok, but they advised the exhaust heat shield is rotten and will need replacing.

1. Does anyone know any good places to get one from?
2. A rough price for one?
3. Fitting, easy or send into the garage ?

Thanks in advance .....
Paul

The heat shields around the headers (manifolds) bolt on but the bolts seize up and rust on. After soaking in WD40 all but 1 of the bolts came undone.
It will be a laid on floor under car job.

There is also a heatshield between the exhaust and the body, this bolts to the body, not sure if these rust though.

I am not sure why a rusty heatshield would be an MOT failure, or advice note, it is not an integral part of the exhaust system and unless it was pertruding from the car and could cause someone an injury then not a problem? Mine was rattling for nearly a year because one mounting had rusted off, no mention of it at MOT time.

Thanks for the replys.

Rally, it didnt fail the mot, the garage I took it to just mentioned it to me. It wasn't on the advisory notes or anything like that. They just noticed it was rotten and mentioned it to me.

Cheers,
