Default 01 WRX Gear box

Hello,

anybody know how much the standard 01 WRX 5-speed gear box can handle in HP?

Best Regards

Id be happy taking it upto about 300bhp / 300 lbs/ft - maybe a tad over - still expecting a reasonably long life. Apparently anymore than 350bhp and the standard box gets eaten up fairly quickly.

Personally a lot of it comes down to driving style. Even with just 215bhp, the combination of a driver with no mechnical sympathy can destroy the gearbox without too much trouble.

Its torque that breaks boxes, 300lb/ft if you are a hard driver or around 340lb/ft if you are a little more forgiving

Default Gear box

Hey,

thank you for the answers.

Than I need to do something with the box.

Anybody have any recomandations?

I have told the STI 6-speed would hold, and I have seen the MRT dog-gear unit been used also.

Any of you have any experience with any of the to and fitting them to a regualer 01- WRX?

Best Regards

Yup the 6 speed can handle much more power, but its also 30kg heavier.
