I have a Impreza ´00 GT. Has been running fine so far. No mods or repairs!

But suddenly I have a huge problem... When the car reaches 4000rmp it feels like it just cuts totally (sort of like hitting the rev limiter). I got error 32 (O2 sensor). The car starts "shaking" badly if I keep the throttle on

Any ideas on what I should do???

 

I think your oxygen sensor needs replacing. It is sending incorrect signals to the ecu. Hopefully a replacement should sort things.

 

Thats the ECU going into safe mode.

 

Thanks both of you! I will try to replace the sensor... I asume we are talking about the front sensor...??? And could this actually cause the ECU to go in "safe mode"?

 

Yes to protect the car the ecu will go into safe 'limp home' mode if it gets a dodgy signal. The sensor is mounted in the down pipe just aft of the turbo. It may be worth getting the car onto a diagnostic machine just to confirm that it is the sensor. Hope you get things sorted. Regards.

GC8: Yeah I got the Check Engine Light, and the code said "32" on my PSI3 monitor.

Yes it is... It turned out to be a O2 sensor problem. I was surprised to see how much it did to the car though. It just didn't respond at all a few days later. A new sensor did the trick though.

Just pure interest: What does it have to do with the speedo???
