Unhappy Alternator pulley squeaking - terminal?

Does this just get worse and worse before it siezes/falls off?

No amount of WD40 seems to make any long term difference.

Is it dangerous to run like this? Do i need to replace it urgently?

cheers

is it not the alternator bearings that are squeaking?
