Question Is this a PPP exhaust?

Is this a PPP exhaust?

Because I'd like so much a PPP exhaust without having to get the full pack

Hummm, it could be the ratio of the picture or the camera angle that makes it look oval. I'd be curious to know what the difference is though...

LOL @ Phil

Yes it's just the WR Sport version. AFAIK you cannot get the PPP exhaust other than as part of the performance pack.

Not sure how all these pictures answer my question.

OK, this is the one you showed in that Subaru link, as fitted to my old WRX:

You can see the obvious oval section - compare to the round section on the one Phil Stephens has shown. This is the stamp on the top to prove it's the WR Sport one:

The PPP ones say "Prodrive" IIRC.

All the pictures are showing you what the PPP backbox looks like, i.e. a round exit not oval as used on the WR Sport backbox.

As Phil and everyone else has pointed out that exhaust in your link is the WR Sport version. The picture is not squashed, it's not in widescreen, neither has the backbox been run over - it is oval!

If you want the PPP backbox (the round one ) take a look in the Classifieds section or eBay as they appear for sale from time to time.

You can get the equivalent to PPP backbox from Scorpion, being as they make them.
The specs are slightly different as to tailpipe diameter i think, but you can still get the same box. My old one was the same round box, but you wont of course have the Prodrive etching on it if you get it from Scorpion.
Either way, they still pish. Get a Ninja or a Group 'N' from TSL, or something of better sound and than that. And of course, not forgetting Haywood and Scott.

Thumbs up

Well thanks a lot guys for this implacable demonstration of the difference between an oval and a round, I'm really sorry to have doubted it. Moreover I love your pictures.

I would have thought it easier in order to keep my warranty intact to have a subaru sourced exhaust. But in 2 years, I may go for it (if I don't change my car for a WR1 or T25 )

Well like i said above, the 4" Scorpion box was a Subaru sourced one. I got ripped off by them, sorry i mean i bought it from them, and they fitted it.
Rip off *******s. Sorry, did i forget to mention they ripped me off? LOL

MaDaSS, I was quoting you on the "Ninja or a Group 'N'", not the scorpion you've been ripped off with (sorry to mention that )

I have just bought a 2nd hand WR Sport back box and it was exactly what i was looking for. I've now got the Scoob "burble", it doesn't "droan" at motorway speeds, sounds great when accelerating and in my opinion is not too big like some of the bean cans you can buy...nothing against bean cans but they are just not for me. It does feel as if it spools up quicker as well...but that may just be the "wash it and it'll go faster syndrome"

Oh and hopefully with it being a Subaru product it will not effect my warrantee.

Cheers
Rick

The Ninja is one hell of a bean can! LOL.
So my mates tell me
And yes, my car too spools up quicker! It has to, it cost me money, therefore it must work! LOL

I agree with ukjesters: the WR Sport box is fine. There's no extra power, but a much better noise than the WRX twin pea-shooter at least. IIRC it's also slightly louder than the STi backbox as well.

I'm abit confused....................

When I bought my WRX I had a dealer fitted stainless exhaust which has an OVAL exit pipe but has PRODRIVE engraved across the top I think both the PPP and WR have Prodrive engraved on them now.

Its a WR Sport one I think, but sounds a hell of alot better than the standard

I believe the old model of non-PPP exhaust used to have "Prodrive" on it rather than the "WR Sport" now on it.

My back box is less than 5 months old, could have been in the stores for a while though I guess.

Okay, I think I may have found some new elements to add to this thread!

I start thinking that the WR Sport and the PPP backbox are the same one thing, only the shape of the exit seems to differ.
The proof here?:
