On a classic you'll get **** all difference in power as its only a resonator section. On the better shapes
the oem pipe has a cat inside so you'll lose the cat restriction and may get a shetland pony of extra power.
The centre section gets replaced as part of the PPP so it must have some effect.

not true, my classic MY00 has a cat in the centre section..... well once a yr at MOT time anyway

the classic (and obviously better shaped
) has two cats, removing the downpipe one has the best effects.full decat is worth 15-20 bhp.

OOPS My mistake. Never owned a "classic" so was going on what I'd been told.
But thinking about it, I knew the old cars had 2 cats whereas my '02 had 3 cats so the classic had to have one it the centre as it deffo does NOT have an up-pipe cat like the later cars.
On my '02 WRX removing all 3 cats released an extra 30 bhp if not more as it was a lot faster than a PPP'd WRX.
The up-pipe cat removal made a big difference in that the boost came in a lot lower down the revs and was on FULL boost by 2,500rpm
