Depends what kind of jap import it is, if it's a Hiace you might be alright.

It should run on 100-102 ron. So no not good. Atleast sul or optimax & octane booster is best unless its remapped. Car will be well down on power on 95 & not very good for the engine at all.

Alot of people say NF. Never tried it think you have to measure out so much per tank. I use millers. Just chuck the whole bottle in then fill up.

I ran mine on it for 3 months when I first bought it as I didnt know any different, until I found scoobynet. Hasnt shown any the worse for it and the first 3 months are always the hardest when you get a different car

Not that I'd recommend it though

Its more likely to destroy the big-end bearings than hole a piston. Running any JDM Impreza on 95RON fuel is foolish, in fact its stupid.

Depends how old the scooby is as to how bad it is....if it's an old 240ps then things may not be so bad...but if its a 280ps, well as above - not clever at all!

If you were to talk to any of the specialist companies who advertise on here such as API, Powerstation, Scoobyclinic etc, I'm sure that they could tell you that 9 out of 10 engine rebuilds they have to do are from jap import cars run on incorrect fuel, eg 95 ron.

I agree, but its a Type-R..... When the 'A' series Impreza WRXs were produced Japan didnt have 100RON fuel. I still wouldnt chance 95RON though...

Ahh didn't see the type-R bit.

Tell your mate to get it remapped for UK fuel if he intends to use 95ron. Otherwise in the long run it will hammer the big ends, and may melt a piston on a good blast down the lanes or motorway.

Dave makes good money out of peeps who do not bother remapping their imports for UK fuel. Or take other precautions (97ron+ booster +cocklink ).

man you're a ********, ive been reading some threads with u and all ur replies are negative crap!
what if u havent got a choice?? i live in southern ireland and we aint got nothin but 95ron! there might be one or two places in the country still selling 97 sul.. 5 of my friends run sti's, wrx's, and 22b on 95 ron and with no mapping or aftermarket ecu's! some of them dont even use booster and they still runnin strong all these years!the later scoobs will automatically retard the timing if it senses a knock, earlier models are fine on 95..one of my best friends has a 95 wrx import with 195,000 kms on it! and its runnin grand, never rebuild or anything, and he uses 95 with no booster. this is the most negative damn site ive come across

its a replacement ecu for your standard one, it can be mapped to run on any fuel u want, ignition timing etc, i havent got any experience of using aftermarket ecus and this will be the first, hopefully itl b a good job, what scoob u got
