Hi, don't know if anyone can help. I removed my Dawes device today & replaced with standard pipework. Car feels very boring as a result but am trying to return to 'standard' form.

Now without the Dawes & pulling out of a junction turning right in a bit of a hurry the boost cuts completely in 1st gear about 2/3 way into turn. Tried 3 times with same result each time, made to look a complete pr*t in the process! No problems in a straight line....

Car UK MY99, 50K miles, prodrive cat-back zorst, blitz induction, last Subaru service 2k ago inc new plugs. Dawes was only running 15.5 psi, now get 14psi max (both indicated).

I thought I'd read somewhere about boost cut cornering being a result of too much oil, please would someone confirm?

Any advice appreciated, is there a fix (other than draining some oil)?

Cant help with the problem your having, but on another note... how long did you have the dawes on for and was there any reason that you took it off.

As above + you are now using the boost solenoid again that would have been redundant with the Dawes. Using the diagnostic connectors to activate it (do a search, can't remember which you connect, green ones or black ones), make sure it is working and squirt a load of carb cleaner through it to clean it. In the worst case you might need a new one.

It's been on for 2 years. Car wasn't cruising well at motorway speeds (juddery at just below 0 on the boost gauge) so I took it off to see if it helped (it didn't).

Okay misunderstood your post, thought you was just giving one particular instance of boost cut. It's fine if you stick your foot down in 4th/5th from low rpm on a straight road then? What does the boost peak at?

Yes fine in 4th, about 14 psi peak, 5th maybe a fraction higher. Car is a bit juddery at a steady 70mph in 5th (feels like it is coming on & off boost very quickly, like twice a second, but boost gauge indicates a steady -3 psi). That's why I took the Dawes off, to see if the judder went away - it's better but hasn't gone away completely. Obviously never got boost cut with the Dawes on.

have you got a standard dumpvalve fitted?

 

What you describe usually happens when the car is on lowish fuel levels and the fuel goes to the left hand side of the tank on a right hand turn. Fuel pump is on right hand side of tank so results in lack of fuel.

Hi Bob, virtually a full tank of fuel, and in first gear, so I doubt fuel would have time to cut out?
