Driving along yesterday, as I was changing from 3rd to 4th (quick ish change at about 5k)...(private track obviously) the gearbox wouldnt engage 4th.

Further investigation has shown the box is stuck in 3rd. The gear lever will move forwards and backwards with no resistance, but wont move side to side.

The car is a MY93 wrx, fitted with a UK box.

Is there anything I can do? Or is it time for box no 5??

 

Sounds like you have snapped the selector rod end off, I did the same thing. It's quite likely that the 3rd/4th selector fork will be damaged too. In all I think it cost me 150 quid in parts and labour to have the gearbox fixed, although I did remove and refit the 'box myself

 

Who did you use to fix it?
