.....especially now part P is in force. I am interested in getting the necessary qualifications to enable me to start advertising my services.

How/what do I need to do........? Any idea of the costs??

You need to compelte City and Guilds 2381 wiring regulations (if you havent already) then u need to get part P certified

The 2381 is about £300, dont know about the part P

I presume you mean qualified to do Domestic Wiring to part P.

We employ around 60 Electricians all of which must complete a minimum 4 year time served apprenticeship with BTech/HNS qualifications.

They will then need to pass the relevant legislation exams that we require.

We do work on 11kV so none of your week at tech types need apply.

If your a decent domestic electrician then part P is a doddle although it is expensive.

Yeah, domesic is what I am interested in, primarily to be able to do my own home wiring whilst earning a little cash from friends/family etc.......

I have NVQ2 & 3, ONC & HNC in mech engineering. I have a degree in elec power enginering and am a chartered elec engineer.........now i know that mush of this stuff is useless for electrical installation, I am trying to understand what I need to do domestic electrical work.......

If I do the 16th Edition regs, then part P, is that enough or is there more.......don't real electricians do 4 year of training....!??

 

I've got a OND, HNC and HND in Electronics. I have completed the 16th (BS7671) edition course.

I have a NVQ 3 in Engineering Maintenance and have completed an Advanced modern apprenticeship.

What would I need to complete to qualify as an electrician? Is it just the part P?
