i have a problem with my subaru its a my 97 2.0 sport uk car,it has started running rough to say the least ive reset ecu / shows no fault codes / if i disconnect batt then run its ok for max 5 mins then it starts missing / chugging and you can smell strong smell of petrol +residue out of exhaust .>> if i disconnect batt then fire up later it runs perfect ive changed maf/ cheacked plugs /leads all connections have been sprayed with wd 40 im at my wits end dont want to get ripped by main delar can anyone help please !

coolant temp sensor is a possibilty.

Fingers crossed i think ive found the problem i posted thread on imprezasport.net had a reply saying it could be imobiliser playing up as this person found this to be the prob on their scoob £1.200 later when asked the make of imobiliser it turned out to be same model exactly cobra 802t identical to mine also same year car ! what are the chances its not this the symptoms are exactly the same gonna take cobra off tomorrow and smash with lump hammer grr thanks for your input ROB ps ever done a crank seal before mines leaking like mad now i think i need special tool to take pully off< how much would be a good garage charge for changi ng seal???

 

Done a few Crank seals, 3 legged puller works well if it is really stuck...

Does it move at all? obviously it doesnt come off....

I reckon good garage would charge you about £100-150
Where are you located? i am sure someone local to you could reccomend a well priced garage.
