Exclamation WEIRD NOISE BETWEEN 2K-3K RPM STI PPP

Not sure if it is a problem, but i am currently enjoying my new 2005 STI PPP Impreza and i have covered about 5500 miles in it. Over the past week i have been noticing a sight clicking noise (instead of the whirring turbo noise) between 2K and 3K when accelerating gently. It doesn't sound right at all. It has not affected performance or pick up, but it is slightly worrying, as i cannot work out where it is coming from. When you open the bonnet and get someone to replicate the slow increase in RPM between these two points, nothing can be heard, which makes me think that the car has to be moving to make the noise?? Can anyone help me. I shall be taking it into CrossRoads (Tredington) next week for them to have a look, but if anyone has any answers, please let me know. Cheers, STIPPP

Cheers Rob. I'll let you know what the garage says next week. It is still under warranty so should be no probs. Took it out yesterday for a friend to listen to. And guess what..... didn't make a sound! Thanks again

I had a similar problem with my WR1. It turned out to be a exhaust gasket and took 3 visits to the garage to sort because it was intermittant.

Also had a problem with the up-pipe heat shield rattling which got fixed at the same time.

Hope your sorted now anyway.
