Default possibly blown gearbox to pieces

Hi all think i've blown my gearbox to pieces.
big bang when i put the power down comming off a roundabout
so i pulled over instantly. i moved the car another 5 meters and it sounds like someone banging a pole against the bottom of the car.at first i couldn't select first and second gears but after waiting 5 hours for the RAC and playing with the gear stick it will now go into gear but dont feel right.
car is a 93 wrx running about 300bhp.
SO now i'm thinking about a six speed box.
can anybody tell me whats involved cost and where i might be able to get all parts needed.
THANKS

Call David at API www.apiengines.co.uk and he will let you into what's involved.

1.5k - 2k for a 6 speed.

Unless you plan to make massive BHP then stick with 5 sp and spend the money elsewhere. The only reason I'm fitting one is because I race the car and want silly torque.

Buy an STi box or you could buy my old 5 speed 93/94my WRX box

just fitted a 6 speed box to my car and because my gearbox was from the newest model i needed the driveshafts as well so it can work pretty expensive . if i were you i would just put an STI RA gearbox from a 99/00 year car. it would of been my choice but im not too sure how long it would of lasted

What Steve says is probably what David will say too.
The very late 5 speeders from the Sti's very stronger than those up to 97 (I think that is the break point, mine's the older type in my Sti v3 )

About £600 and it drops in. Watch-out for the rear diff ratio.

Graham.
