Remap question
People,
I'm interesting in getting my STi V MY99 remapped.
I know about Bob Rawle @ BR and Andy F, but I've heard there's a 3 month waiting list for Bob and Andy F is in Edinburgh, and I assume with a long waiting list.
What other remappers can do a very competent job without the long wait? TSL maybe?
I'm thinking along the lines of APEXI or EcuTEK.
Cheers

, so recommendations are well received.

Quick question. What extras do I *need*, if any, to ensure a very safe remap? I have a fuel decat system (inc downpipe, but not up-pipe). The only thing I can think of would be an uprated fuel pump (and reg?).
I'm assuming a Knocklink is redundant if the map is done correctly, but many have it for peace of mind?
I'm running standard boost etc as I'm not interested in major hikes in power.
Cheers again

TSL uprated my fuel pump, but purely from a "safety" point of view they told me. They wanted to make sure it had enough fuel. And personally, i would sooner go down the "well safe" route than the "that should be ok" route.

Matt,
I would go with ECUTEK
Bob, Andy and Pat are all well respected mappers.
Pat is an independant mapper and does work for loads of tuners (ie. API, Xtreme, and Scoobyclinic, etc)
Pat mapped the top 3 cars at the Surrey rolling road day
Who ever you choose will have their own opinion of what extras to fit, but a pump and reg can be fitted after the re-map if you need to.
I would just fit an better panel filter. Stear clear of cone fiters on the MY99/00's!
A three port boost solonoid might be a good investment (not sure what the new age cars come with??) 3 ports are std fit on the MY93-96 classics, so you should be able to pick one up from a breakers

As per chance I'm just confirming times with Pat H via one of the above you mention!

Interesting that some centres say yes to the pump and some say not necessarily required....

i would imagine both mate. iv recently bought an imported wrx, fitted a knocklink and am getting a bit of det under full throttle in 4th mainly, iv been driving steady and using octane booster and its fine.
sti5 intercooler, sti panel filter (instead of crap K&N IK) is going on next week, and a possible remap which should sort it. untill then steady driving!

Pat did mine on monday, can't compare him to anyone else as i've not used anyone else, but he's respected on here, he seems to have done a good job and new what he was doing, he is available within a few weeks, he will travel to you, he came when he said he would and most importantly I'm pleased with the results. If you have decided on pat, i don't think you will be disappointed.
oh yeah, i had a full decat (up, down and centre decat), back box and STI filter fitted for when he arrived, i was told there was no need for a new pump

The pump is only required on the new age STI's unless your intending to push it further
Knock and Lambda Links are always a good idea
If you see Det then it gives you the chance to moderate your driving style (meaning Lift off!)
If you then add booster you should be fine to revert back to "normal" driving
It's not only "bad fuel" that can cause Det. Engine/inlet temps etc can cause problems too.
